Josh Battle Commits to ECU, Becomes Fourth OL Addition in 2026 Class
East Carolina has secured another key building block for its offensive line of the future, landing a commitment from towering offensive tackle Josh Battle out of Woodward Academy in Atlanta, Georgia.
The 6-foot-7, 285-pound standout chose the Pirates over fellow finalists Georgia Southern and Western Kentucky following official visits to all three programs in June. He also held offers from a number of Group of Five schools, including Liberty, FIU, FAU, Troy, UNLV, Arkansas State, and Georgia State.
Battle becomes ECU’s fourth offensive line commitment in the 2026 class, joining fellow projected tackle Ja’Vaughn Hargett (Southern Durham High School) and interior linemen Joshua Singleton (IMG Academy) and Preston Broadway (Metrolina Christian). He’s the third Georgia native in the current class and continues ECU’s recruiting momentum in the Atlanta metro area — a hotbed of high-level talent.
A physical presence at offensive tackle for the War Eagles, Battle helped lead Woodward Academy to an 8–4 record during the 2024 season. He’s expected to anchor the offensive line again as a senior, with the 2025 campaign opening August 15 at Carrollton. Known for his frame, reach, and potential as a pass protector, Battle projects as a developmental tackle prospect with the athleticism and upside to grow into a starter under offensive line coach Allen Mogridge.
With Battle in the fold, East Carolina now has 15 public commitments in its 2026 recruiting class including seven offensive players and a clear emphasis on rebuilding the offensive front with length, toughness, and versatility.
