Louisville CB Rae’mon Mosby Signs With East Carolina

East Carolina has officially added another piece to its overhauled secondary, as Louisville transfer Rae’mon Mosby has signed with the Pirates and will enroll with three years of eligibility remaining.

The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back arrives in Greenville as a rising redshirt sophomore and immediately enters the mix for playing time in a cornerback room that was completely turned over this offseason. ECU lost its entire two-deep at the position to graduation and the transfer portal, making experience and upside major priorities for the coaching staff.

Mosby joins fellow transfer additions Ashton Levells (FIU) and Jayden Bowden (Minnesota) as newcomers competing to solidify the Pirates’ cornerback rotation. His commitment also continues a familiar pipeline for ECU, as Mosby is another product of Westlake High School (Ga.) — a program that has become increasingly represented in Greenville.

Westlake’s connection to ECU is notable. Mosby played under current Pirates outside linebackers coach Rico Zackery, and he reunites with former Westlake teammates already on the roster, including safety DeMarius Hines. Former Westlake safety Christian Peterson, a UCF transfer, also committed to ECU earlier in this transfer portal cycle. All three were part of Westlake’s 2024 recruiting class.

Originally, Mosby signed with Louisville, choosing the Cardinals over a long list of Power Five and Group of Five suitors, including Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Cincinnati, Memphis, FAU, and East Carolina. Now, he’ll get a fresh start in Greenville with a clear path to opportunity.

With multiple new faces and a wide-open depth chart, Mosby’s blend of Power Five pedigree, familiarity with ECU’s staff, and remaining eligibility gives him a strong chance to play a meaningful role as the Pirates rebuild their secondary heading into the upcoming season.
