Dawson Quarterman Commits to ECU, Adds Key Piece to 2026 Receiver Class
East Carolina continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail with the addition of Dawson Quarterman, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound wide receiver from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. Quarterman made the call following an official visit to Greenville over the weekend, becoming a critical piece in the Pirates’ offensive plans for the 2026 class.
Before arriving at Grayson one of the most talent-rich programs in the state, Quarterman starred at Norland High School in Miami during the 2024 season. There, he caught 35 passes for 624 yards and five touchdowns, offering a reliable downfield threat for the offense and showcasing the kind of ball skills that have made him an intriguing target. His spring transfer to Grayson immediately raised his recruiting profile, as he drew interest from college staffs across the country during evaluations.
Quarterman held offers from a long list of programs, including Colorado, Kentucky, NC State, Nebraska, Syracuse, West Virginia, Tulane, Liberty, App State, FAU, UAB, James Madison, and FIU, among others. He officially visited FIU before deciding on East Carolina.
His length and fluidity make him a natural fit as an outside receiver, but he’s also proven capable of moving around the formation and adjusting to different roles. Quarterman brings the type of physical traits and football IQ that project well in East Carolina’s evolving offensive system under OC John David Baker.
With his pledge, Quarterman becomes the ninth publicly confirmed commitment in ECU’s 2026 recruiting class, and the fourth on the offensive side joining quarterback Trey Burke, wide receiver Rai’shawn Elmore, and offensive lineman Ja’Vaughn Hargett. The Pirates are clearly prioritizing offensive firepower in this cycle, and Quarterman adds both proven production and long-term upside to the group.
