Trey Burke Becomes ECU’s 2026 Quarterback Commit

East Carolina has found its quarterback for the 2026 class, landing a commitment from Trey Burke, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound signal-caller out of Spartanburg High School in South Carolina. Burke becomes the eighth commit in ECU’s 2026 class, and the first at the quarterback position.

Burke’s recruitment was quiet compared to other prospects. He held just one other reported offer from East Tennessee State but ECU offensive coordinator John David Baker had been tracking him for months. The staff waited to formally extend an offer until Burke made it to campus this week for a visit. Not long after that visit, he committed to the Pirates.

In 2025, Burke completed 57.1 percent of his passes for 1,065 yards and 11 touchdowns, with only five interceptions over eight games. He helped lead Spartanburg to a 9-3 record and a playoff berth as a junior, showcasing efficiency and poise as a leader of the offense.

Burke will also follow a familiar path he’ll become the second quarterback from Spartanburg High School to join East Carolina’s roster in recent years. Raheim Jeter, a member of the 2022 class, is now entering his fourth year in the program.

Though his offer sheet doesn’t boast Power Five logos, Burke brings size, tools, and developmental upside that the ECU staff believes in. He becomes another building block for the Pirates' 2026 group one with the chance to grow into a key piece of the offense over time.
