ECU Headed to Conway Regional After AAC Title Run

GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Pirates are dancing.

After winning the American Athletic Conference Tournament to punch their postseason ticket, East Carolina (33-25) has officially been placed in the Conway Regional, hosted by No. 13 national seed Coastal Carolina (48-11). The Pirates will face Florida (38-20) in their opening game of the NCAA Tournament, while host Coastal Carolina will take on Fairfield (39-17).

ECU entered the AAC Tournament knowing their only path to the postseason was through an automatic bid. The Pirates delivered, ripping off four straight wins—including a dramatic ninth-inning comeback against South Florida and a championship victory over Wichita State—to secure the league’s crown and extend their season.

This marks yet another postseason appearance for head coach Cliff Godwin’s program, which has made the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last eight years. This year’s road, however, might be the toughest yet, with perennial SEC power Florida and red-hot Coastal Carolina waiting in the double-elimination bracket.

The 2025 Conway Regional matchups:

  • No. 1 Coastal Carolina (48-11) vs. No. 4 Fairfield (39-17)

  • No. 2 Florida (38-20) vs. No. 3 East Carolina (33-25)

The regionals will run May 30 to June 2, with each site playing a double-elimination format. The winner of the Conway Regional will advance to the Super Regionals (June 6–9), followed by the Men’s College World Series, which begins June 13 in Omaha.
