ECU’s Ethan Norby Earns Team USA Training Camp Invite

East Carolina’s ace Ethan Norby is officially on the radar of USA Baseball.

The rising junior left-hander was invited to the 2025 USA Collegiate National Team Training Camp, making him the eighth Pirate in program history to receive the honor. He joins a prestigious list that includes names like Jake and Zach Agnos, Alec Burleson, Bryant Packard, Carson Whisenhunt, and most recently, Trey Yesavage. Cliff Godwin himself has twice served on the coaching staff for Team USA.

Norby’s numbers this season speak for themselves 8-5 record, a 3.80 ERA, and 119 strikeouts in 90 innings while walking just 22. That 5.41 K/BB ratio ranks top-20 nationally, and his 119 strikeouts tie for fourth all-time in ECU single-season history.

Of course, Pirate Nation will remember March 7th best. The night Norby struck out 19 Coastal Carolina batters in a dominant 7-0 win. That performance put him squarely on the national map.

He added another standout moment with a 10-strikeout gem against No. 17 Florida to open the Conway Regional, helping ECU to an 11-6 win and earning All-Tournament Team honors in the process.

Norby will be one of 56 top non-draft-eligible players competing from June 29 to July 3 across North Carolina. The intrasquad Stars vs. Stripes series will determine the final USA roster, with selections announced July 3. Those selected will represent the U.S. in the 45th Collegiate All-Star Series against Japan from July 8-13. The remaining players will compete in a July 4th showcase game against the Appalachian League Select Team.

No matter what happens next, Norby’s invitation is another huge accolade for one of the best arms to come through Greenville in recent memory.
