Staff Changes Begin for ECU Baseball Following 2025 Season

The offseason has officially started in Greenville, and with it comes the first wave of coaching staff changes for ECU Baseball.

The Pirates have parted ways with hitting coach Henri Lartigue, per a report from D1Baseball’s Kendall Rogers. Lartigue, who joined the staff prior to the 2024 season, spent the last two years working with ECU's hitters. Despite moments of promise, the 2025 season saw a step back in production at the plate.

East Carolina finished the year with a team batting average of .277 and an .810 OPS, both down from .309 and .884 in 2024. The Pirates did hit 73 home runs, but also struck out 475 times their most since the 2022 campaign, when they totaled 498 strikeouts over five more games.

In addition to the move at hitting coach, ECU will also need to replace its Director of Baseball Operations, with Eddie Loesner departing the program. Loesner has spent decades in the game, including stints as the head coach at Kinston High School and Farmville Central High School, before joining the ECU staff in an administrative role.

Head coach Cliff Godwin and his staff now face a pivotal offseason, not just in the transfer portal but on the coaching front as well. The 2026 roster and staff will look different, and how ECU reshapes itself could define the next phase of the program
